Alaina Lee

I began training as a therapist in 2021, and I’ve been a professional therapist since 2023. I became a therapist because I love to connect with people, and because I’m passionate about helping others when I can. I’m so honored to meet you and know you exactly as you are, and to help you grow into the person you most want to become.

I specialize in Internal Family Systems therapy, which envisions each of us as a collection of parts: anxious parts, sad parts, joyful parts (kind of like Inside Out). I find this approach to be the most helpful for myself and my clients, but I integrate a variety of other therapeutic approaches (CBT, DBT, ACT, somatic) as relevant to the individual in front of me.

I have an MSW from Seattle University and an LSWAIC in the state of Washington. Often, the letters that designate our professions are something of a mystery. Here’s what my letters mean, and what they mean to me:

MSW — Master of Social Work
LSWAIC — Licensed Social Worker Associate – Independent Clinical

There are a lot of different ways to become a therapist. To me, being a social worker means understanding and acknowledging the broader context of our lives. Not all of our problems are personal ones; many are societal, and not all can be resolved in therapy. I’m not going to pretend I have all the answers, but I believe strongly that things can get better, and I would be more than happy to join you on that journey.
